AMTNYS College Scholarships

For Future SECONDARY MATHEMATICS TEACHERS and ELEMENTARY TEACHERS WITH A MATHEMATICS CONCENTRATION

The Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (AMTNYS) announces that applications are available after the middle of February from your Education and Mathematics Departments for its Scholarships. These awards are presented to outstanding Undergraduates who are enrolled in a Teacher Education Program in New York State and who have completed at least 18 credit hours of Mathematics. The cumulative G.P.A. must be at least 3.25.

Applicants may be in their Senior year. Awards are based on a committee evaluation of each student's achievement throughout their academic program, as well as their involvement with and contributions to their school and the mathematics community. Financial need is not a criterion.

The entire membership of AMTNYS acknowledges with pride our accomplishments in helping prospective teachers of mathematics.

AMTNYS began the scholarship program in 1987 with 1 award. The following year, we awarded 2 scholarships. In 1994, with the generous support of its membership, we incresed the number of scholarships to 3 awards. We currently award four scholarships to assist a worthy few, who are currently studying to be math teachers. This money is primarily raised by donations given by members and friends to The AMTNYS Scholarship Fund. (Simply indicate your donation on your membership form)
